In my last post, I wrote about the power of title text in your header and how important it is. Below are some inspirational ideas on how to lay out your title text.
Fancy primary heading with simple subheading underneath:
Fancy heading and subheading of same length:
Same font in 3 different sizes:
Heading and subheading side by side:
Make the first letter of each word extra large:
On Orbs.com, remember you have the flexibility to add up to 3 lines of text which can each be edited independently. To edit your header on Orbs.com, click on the “Design” button at the top to access your site design, select a design to edit and then on the template editor, click the button at the top to add text.
The title you put in your template header can make a big difference on whether a visitor is convinced to stay on your website or go elsewhere. Your header has the advantage of appearing at the top of every page so no matter which page your visitor comes to first, they will see it.
The most important task is to identify who the website is about like your company name, club name or school. If your site is about a cause, then that can be your primary title (e.g. People Against ________).
Less prominently, indicate what you, your organization or cause is about. Remember, a visitor may have come through a Google search so they are looking for confirmation that your website will answer their questions. If they are, for example, looking for a television repair service, they need to know that you do repairs for electronics. Be specific as many slogans are generic. Also, keep it as short as you can.
If geographic location might be important to your visitors, you may also want to include this information in your header. Some sites this can affect are restaurants, schools and stores. It can be as simple as having just the city and state/province. Then, make sure the full address is at the bottom of all your pages or you have a “Contact Us” page. Alternatively, you can have your full address showing in your header.
This information applies mainly to businesses, organizations and clubs.
